Al-Rumayṣāʾ bint Milḥān (Arabic: الرميصاء بنت ملحان; died c. CE; 28 AH), popularly known by her kunya as Umm Sulaym, was a companion of Islamic prophet Muhammad and was one of the earliest women converts to Islam in Yathrib (now Medina).Bint binu bion bira Umm Sulaym was a model Muslim, a model wife and mother. Known for her excellent character, the power of her intellect and her independent attitude of mind, she was one of the first women in Madinah to embrace Islam.
Umm Sulaym was one of the first women of Yathrib to accept Islam. She was influenced by the refined, dedicated and persuasive Musab ibn Umayr who was sent out as the first missionary or ambassador of Islam by the noble Prophet. This was after the first pledge of Aqabah.
Umm Sulaym’s full name was Sahlah or Rumaylah or Mulaykah bint Milhaan ibn Khaalid ibn Zayd ibn Haraam ibn Jundub al-Ansaariyyah (may Allaah be pleased with her). She was the mother of Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him), and is best known by her kunyah; there is some difference of opinion as to her given name.
